Answer:

The Harrappan Cities Had covered drains. Although they were not carefully laid out in a straight lines. Each Drain had a gentle slope so that water could flow through it. Very Often, drains in houses were connected to the drains

on the streets and smaller drains led to bigger

ones.

  1. Harappa had a well-planned drainage system. It was distinctive and well developed.
  2. The roads and streets were laid out along an approximate “grid” pattern, intersecting at right angles.
  3. The streets with drains were laid out first and then houses built along them.
  4. Each house had one wall along a street so that domestic waste water can be flowed out into the drains.
  5. Thus a proper system of drainage was laid down so that no waste water gets collected on the streets. Hygiene and sanitation were its hallmarks.
