Explanation:

Given:

The forces of the rectangular component.

To find:

We have to find the angle which it makes with it

Solution:

Let x be the component of the force which makes an angle \phi

From the given statement we have

F = 40 N

fx = 20 N

Let the angle between F and fx be

Substituting the values of f and fx we get

To find the angle we shift cos to the right hand side

So we get

Hence the angle made by the rectangular component is 60°.
