Given:

quadratic equation  kx²- x -12 = 0 whose one root is 3/2

To Find:

Value of k

Solution:

It is given that 3/2 is root of equation.

therefore,

if we put 3/2 in place of x we will get 0

⇒ k(3/2)²- (3/2) -12 = 0

⇒ 9k/4 - 3/2 -12 = 0

⇒ (9k - 6 - 48 )/ 4 =0

⇒ 9k - 54 = 0

⇒ 9k = 54

⇒ k = 54/9

⇒ k = 6

Hence, the value of k is 6.
