one of the two numbers exceeds the other by 7..if we add 4 times the smaller to five times the greater, we get 143. find the numbers

Let one number be x .
Then , the other no. will be x+7.
A/q , 4(x) + 5(x+7) = 143
=> 4x+5x+35= 143
=> 9x+35= 143
=> 9x = 143 - 35
=> 9x= 108
=>x = 108/9
x=12 ....

1st number = x = 12
2nd number = x+7 = 12+7 =>19 Answer ...
