Let the smaller number = x.

Then the larger number exceeds the smaller by 9 = x + 9

A/q,

4x + 5(x + 9) = 108

4x + 5x + 45 = 108

9x + 45 = 108

9x = 108 - 45

9x = 63

x = \frac{63}{9}

x = 7

Smaller number => x => 7

Larger number => x + 9 => 7 + 9 => 16

\therefore{} The numbers are 7 and 16

Let one of the number be x.

The other number is x + 9.

Form equation:

4 times the smaller numbered added 5 times the larger number gives 108

4x + 5(x + 9) = 108

4x + 5x + 45 = 108

9x + 45 = 108

9x = 63

x = 7

Find the numbers:

smaller number = x = 7

larger number = x + 9 = 7 + 9 = 16

Answer: The number are 7 and 16
