He would tell her that he badly want to go the trip and promise her that he would be good in the exam the next time.

if the situation like mentioned above occurs then ask your friend to tell his or her mother that he will get good grades next time. another tip that i use is i talk to the parent of my friend and convince them by pleasing them and telling them that there are a lot of people going. the test was very difficult and no one has got good marks .
