This is the extract from "The last lesson"

Here in, the author does not like to learn french and has hardly paid any attention to learning french.

But, one day he realized  the importance of the french language.

When he came late at school, he saw that everybody was in silence and even Mr. M. Hamel did not scold him.He announced that today is the last lesson that he is going to teach, because of the order from Berlin that in the two states there will be no french teaching.

It changed a lot. M. Hamel was teaching there for over a long time. But now he has to leave that place. That day, even author paid a lot of attention to teaching of french.
