*Syed Ahmad Taqvi bin Syed Muhammad Muttaqi KCSI, commonly known as Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, was an Islamic pragmatist, Islamic reformer, philosopher, and educationist in nineteenth-century British India.

*Sir Syed Ahmad Khan is best known for the Aligarh Movement — a systemic movement aimed at reforming the social, political and educational aspects of the Muslim community.

*The two-nation theory advocated by the All India Muslim League is the founding principle of the Pakistan Movement (i.e. the ideology of Pakistan as a Muslim nation-state in the northwestern and eastern regions of India) through the partition of India in 1947.

*Sir Syed Ahmed was entitled with the title of Sir in 1867 on the 1st of April.

*In 'The Loyal Muhammadans of India', he described the sincere services of Muslims of India to the British Government. He also established 'British-Indian Association'.

*Educational reforms opened new ways for Muslims to progress in economic and political spectrum. Sir Syed died in 27th March 1898 and his Aligarh Movement led the foundation for Pakistan Movement which resulted in Separate homeland for Muslims in 1947.

*On 1 April 1869 he went, along with his sons Syed Mahmood and Syed Hamed to England, where he was awarded the Order of the Star of India from the British government on 6 August. Travelling across England, he visited its colleges and was inspired by the culture of learning established after the Renaissance.

*The most important movement for the spread of modern education and social reform among Muslims was started by Sir Syed Ahmad Khan (1817-1898).He advocated English education for the regeneration of Muslims in India. His emphasis on science particularly offended the orthodox Muslims.

*Sir Syed was determined to improve the status of the Muslim community. By writing his Essay on the Causes of the Indian Revolt and The Loyal Mohammadens of India he had shown a desire to re-establish good relationships with the British, as he hoped this would lead to greater opportunities for Muslims.

*Sir Syed Ahmad Khan Bahadur lived the last two decades of his life in Aligarh, regarded widely as the mentor of 19th and 20th century Muslim entrepreneurs. Battling illnesses and old age, Sir Syed died on 27 March 1898. He was buried besides Sir Syed Masjid inside the campus of the Aligarh Muslim University.
