Answer:

Length of smaller piece = 8.4m

Length of bigger piece = 12.6m

Step-by-step explanation:

Let us consider the two pieces to be P₁ and P₂

We know that :-

Total length = 21m

Length of piece P₁ = 40% of total length

⇒ 40 / 100 × 21

⇒ 2 / 5 × 21

⇒ 8.4m

Length of piece P₂ = (Total length) - (Length of piece P₁)

⇒ 21 - 8.4

⇒ 12.6m

Hope this answer helps you.

Total pipe’s length = 21 metres

Percentage in which the pipe is to be cut down= 40% and 60%

40% of total pipe length= 40/100* 21 = 42/5= 8.4 metres

60% of total pipe length= 60/100*21= 63/5= 12.6 metres

Hope it helps you
