One pipe can fill a tank 4 times as fast as another pipe if together the two pipes can fill the tank in 2 hours in how much time will the slower pipe alone fill the tank?

Given :

  • One pipe can fill a tank 4 times as fast as another pipe

To find :

  • How much time will the slower pipe alone will able to fill the tank

Solution :

  • Let the slower pipe alone fill the tank he x

Given one pipe can fill a tank 4 times as fast as another pipe so,

  • x/4 m

According to question,

  • 2 hours = 120m

➞ 1/x + 4/x = 1/120

➞ x × 5/x = x × 1/120

➞ 5 = x × 1/120

➞ 5 = 1/120 × x

➞ 5 = 1x/120

➞ 5 = x/120

➞ 120 × 5 = x

➞ x = 120 × 5

➞ x = 600 minutes

The slower pipe alone will be able to fill the tank in 600 minutes or 10 hours
