Answer:

Let the slower pipe alone fill the tank in x minutes.

Then, faster pipe will fill it in 3x minuts.

∴x1+x3=361

⇒x4=361

⇒x=144 min.

Answer:

\huge\underline\bold {Answer:}

Suppose the faster pipe A can fill the tank in x minutes. Then,

Slower pipe B will fill it in 3x minutes.

In one minute both the pipes can fill

 \frac{1}{x}  +  \frac{1}{3x}  =  \frac{4}{3x}  \: of \: the \: tank

Also, given that in one minute both the pipes can fill 1/36 of the tank.

Therefore, 4/3x = 1/36

=> x = 48.

Hence, the slower pipe will take 3 × 48

= 144 minutes.
