now

sum \: of \: the \: roots = a +  \frac{ - 5}{3}  =  \frac{1}{3}  \\ a =  \frac{5}{3}  +  \frac{1}{3}  =  \frac{6}{3}  = 2 \\ product \: of \: the \: roots \:  = 2 \times  \frac{ - 5}{3}  =  \frac{k}{3}  \\ k =  - 10
