Answer:

  • Total number of coins = 144 coins

Explanation:

Given that,

  • One rupee, 50 paise and 25 paise coins in the box are in the ratio , 2 : 3 : 4
  • Total money in the box is 72 Rs

We need to find,

  • Total number of coins

Solution,

Let, number of 1 rupee coins means coins of 100 Paise = 2 x

then, Number of 50 paise coins = 3 x

and, Number of 25 pasie coins = 4 x

Then,

Since total money is 72 Rupees means 7200 Paise therefore,

→ ( 100 paise ) · ( no. of 100 paise coins ) + ( 50 paise ) · ( no. of 50 paise coins ) + ( 25 paise ) · ( no. of 25 paise coins ) = 7200 paise

→ ( 100 ) · ( 2 x ) + ( 50 ) · ( 3 x ) + ( 25 ) · ( 4 x ) = 7200

→ 200 x + 150 x + 100 x = 7200

→ 450 x = 7200

→ x = 7200 / 450

x = 16

Hence, Now we have value of x, so we can calculate total number of coins

→ Total number of coins = 2 x + 3 x + 4 x

→ Total number of coins = 9 x

→ Total number of coins = 9 · ( 16 )

Total number of coins = 144

Therefore,

  • There are total of 144 coins.
