Answer:

Given:

The first seller quoted the price of 5 pens and 7 pencil as ₹ 55 1/3 and ₹ 14 2/3 respectively .

The second seller quoted the price of 7 pens and 5 pencils as ₹ 78 2/5 and 10 3/4 respectively

To find:

From where should we buy?

Solution:

Price quotes given by the first seller:

Price of 5 pens = ₹  = ₹   = ₹ 55

∴ Price of 1 pen =  = ₹ 11

Price of 7 pencils = ₹  = ₹   = ₹ 14.67

∴ Price of 1 pencil =  = ₹ 2.09

Price quotes given by the second seller:

Price of 7 pens = ₹  = ₹   = ₹ 78.4

∴ Price of 1 pen =  = ₹ 11.2

Price of 5 pencils = ₹  = ₹   = ₹ 10.75

∴ Price of 1 pencil =  = ₹ 2.15

From the above calculations we can conclude that since the price quoted by first seller for 1 pen and 1 pencil is less than that of the price quoted by the second seller

Thus, we should buy from the first seller .
