One seventh of the candidates of an examination were girls and the rest were boys. 20%of the boys and 15%of the girls failed. If the number of candidates be 2800, find the percentage of successful candidates.​

number of girls failed=15%

number of boys failed=20%

number of students failed=35%

total number of students passed=100-35=65%

here given

total number of students=2800

so,

number of passed students=65/100*2800

=1820

number of failed students=35/100*2800

=980

now \\ number \: of \: failed \: girls \\  =  >  \frac{980}{7}  = 140 \\ number \: of \: failed \: boys  \\  =  > 980 - 140 = 840
