GivEn:

  • One side of a parallelogram is ¾ times is adjacent side.
  • Perimeter of the Parallelogram is 70 cm.

To find:

  • Sides of parallelogram?

Solution:

☯ Let two adjacent sides of parallelogram be x and y respectively.

GivEn that,

  • One side of a parallelogram is ¾ times is adjacent side.

Therefore,

➯ y = ¾ x ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀❬eq (❶)❭

Now,

According to the Question:

  • Perimeter of the Parallelogram is 70 cm.

➯ 2(x + y) = 70

➯ 2(x + ¾ x) = 70

➯ x + ¾ x = 70/2

➯ x + ¾ x = 35

➯ (4x + 3x)/4 = 35

➯ 7x/4 = 35

➯ 7x = 35 × 4

➯ 7x = 140

➯ x = 140/7

➯ x = 20

Now, Substituting value of x in eq (1),

➯ y = 3/4 × 20

➯ y = 15

∴ Hence, two adjacent sides of parallelogram is 20 cm and 15 cm respectively.

And, We know that,

  • Opposite sides of a parallelogram are equal and parallel.

∴ So, the sides of parallelogram are 20 cm, 20 cm, 15 cm and 15 cm.

One side is 20 cm.

Other side is 15 cm.

\huge\bf\pink{Solution}

☞ See the attachment diagram .

Let the side PQ be x cm.

➜ According to the question,

  • The adjacent side (QR) = \sf{\dfrac{3}{4}x}

We know that,

\bigstar\:\bf\blue{Perimeter\:of\:a\: parallelogram\:=\:2\times{Sum\:of\: two\: adjacent\:sides\:}}

Given that,

  • The perimeter of the parallelogram is 70 cm .

\implies\:\rm{2\times{(PQ\:+\:QR)}\:=\:70}

\implies\:\rm{2\times{(x\:+\:\dfrac{3}{4}x)}\:=\:70}

\implies\:\rm{2\times{\dfrac{4x\:+\:3x}{4}}\:=\:70}

\implies\:\rm{\dfrac{7x}{2}\:=\:70}

\implies\:\rm{7x\:=\:70\times{2}}

\implies\:\rm{x\:=\:\dfrac{70\times{2}}{7}}

\implies\:\rm{x\:=\:10\times{2}}

\implies\:\bf{x\:=\:20\:cm}

  • PQ = x = 20 cm

\implies\:\rm{QR\:=\:\dfrac{3}{4}x}

\implies\:\rm{QR\:=\:\dfrac{3}{4}\times{20}}

\implies\:\rm{QR\:=\:3\times{5}}

\implies\:\bf{QR\:=\:15\:cm}

\therefore The sides of the parallelogram are 20cm and 15cm .
