One side of a rectangle is 40 metres and its diagonal is 50 metres. Find the perimeter of this rectangle?

Answer:

In rectangle ABCD,

AC =40 m -----(given)

AC congruent to BC = 40m

therefore by Pythagoras theorem,

ADsquare = AC square + CD square

50 square=1600 + CD square

2500 - 1600=CDsquare

900=CD square

√900=CD square-----(taking square root on both the sides)

30=CD

therefore CD =30m

CD congruent to AB= 30 m

therefore perimeter of rectangle

=2( l + b)

=2(40+30)

=2(70)

=140m

therefore perimeter of rectangle = 140 metres
