Let the longer side be x ( l )
and smaller side be y ( b )
x = 5y ...... ( i )
Perimeter :- 2 ( l + b )
72 = 2 ( x + y )
36 = ( 5y + y )
36 = 6y
6 = y
Putting this in ( i )
x = 5y
x = 30
Length ( larger side ) :- 30m
Breadth ( smaller side ) :- 6 m
and smaller side be y ( b )
x = 5y ...... ( i )
Perimeter :- 2 ( l + b )
72 = 2 ( x + y )
36 = ( 5y + y )
36 = 6y
6 = y
Putting this in ( i )
x = 5y
x = 30
Length ( larger side ) :- 30m
Breadth ( smaller side ) :- 6 m

Concept introduction:
Any two-dimensional creature's perimeter is determined by the space surrounding it. By summing the lengths of the sides, we can get the perimeter of any closed form.
Given:
Here it is given that one side of a rectangle is five times as long as the other side and the perimeter is meters.
To find:
We have to find the length of the shorter side.
Solution:
According to the question,
Let the longer side be
and smaller side be
Perimeter :
The length is .
Putting this in
Final answer:
The final answer of the length of shorter side is .
