As we all know that , radius is perpendicular to the tangent at the point of contact . So , there will be a formation of a right angled triangle , where the line joining the centre and the external point will be hypotenuse .

=> OA² + AB² = OB²

=> ( 8cm )² + AB² = ( 10 cm)²

=> AB² = 100 cm² - 64 cm²

=> AB² = 36 cm²

=> AB = 6cm .

Hence the required answer is 6cm .
