(2 - p) x ^ + (3 + p) x - 8 = 0

One of its roots is 2, then;

(2 - p) (2) ^ + (3 + p) (2) - 8 = 0

(2-p) (4) + (3 + p) (2) - 8 = 0

8 - 4p + 6 + 2p - 8 = 0

-4p + 2p = -8 - 6 + 8

-2p = -6

p = 3

Score

5p - 3 = 15 - 3 = 12
