one student say that water exert pressure on the bottom of the bucket but another student say that water exert pressure on the side of the bucket what would you like to say

rohit348: you might know about archimedies principle....its buoyont force which keep the ship or other thing to stay on the surface of water even though their densities are greater than water.....and surface tension is the stretching of the water surface due to the tangential force of lower curved miniscus of water.....now to observe lower curved miniscus of water surface you can observe the surface of water in the transparent glass..its always curved due to that tangential force of surface

water exert pressure on all the sides of the bucket but the pressure is more on the bottom of the bucket because of gravity
