one suresh father fired with his gun in the air. Firstly he hold the gun tightly with his shoulder. What is the phenomena behind this. Is it first law of motion? ​

mass of Bullet * velocity of bullet = mass of gun & velocity of gun (in opposite direction )

velocity of bullet  is Quite high and difference between mass of Bullet and mass of   gun  is not that high

Hence reverse velocity could be high and can cause injury.

But if  person hold the gun tightly with his shoulder

then mass of system become mass of person + mass of gun  which is quite high compared to mass of bullet

hence reverse velocity would be negligible
