one tank can be filled up by two taps in 6 hours. the smaller tap alone takes 5 hours nore than the bigger tap alone. Find the time required by each tap to fill the tank separately. Plz tell me full solution.....

small tap = x

big tap = y

then x+y=6

x+5=y=>x-y=5

by adding both the equations , we get

x+y+x-y=6+5

2x=11

x=11/2

11/2+y=6

y=1/2

therefore time by x =5.5 hours and y=0.5hours
