Step-by-step explanation:

(Whenever ratio is not given always assume that the ratio is k:1.Dont write this statement,just to understand)

Let the ratio be k:1

(-4,6)= [k×3+1×(-6)÷k+1], [k×(-8)+1×10÷k+1]

= (3k-6÷k+1),(-8k+10÷k+1)

Now 3k-6 on Right Hand Side and( -4) on Left Hand Side are both x-co-

k+1

ordinates...

3k-6 = -4

k+1

3k-6=4(k+1)

3k-6=4k+4

3k-4k=4+6

-k=10

.

. . k= -10

similarly -8k+10 and 6 are y-co-ordinates

k+1

8k+10 = 6

k+1

8k+10= 6(k+1)

8k+10=6k+6

8k-6k=6-10

2k= -4

k= -4

2

k= -2

Since both are minus,its basically that the line (-4,6)divides the given line in the ratio 10:2

Thats all I know,hope this will help you
