Let the number be x.

One third of the number will be equal to (1/3)*x

Now diminishing the above number by one fourth. Hence the number becomes (1/4)*(1/3)*x.

Now according to the question,

( 1 / 4 ) * ( 1 / 3 ) * x = 5

( 1 / 3 ) * x = 5 * 4

( 1 / 3 ) * x = 20

x = 20 * 3

x = 60

The number is equal to 60.
