Let the number be x.

Given that 1/3th of number exceeds 1/5th of itself by 4.

(1/3) * x = (1/5) * x + 4

(1/3) * x - (1/5) * x = 4

LCM of 3 and 5 = 15.

(5/15) * x - (3/15) * x = 4

(2/15) * x = 4

2x = 60

x = 30.

Hope this helps!
