According to question                                  Number of boys participating =100                                  number of girls participating=300-100=200 Now let the number of boys in school be x
                                               Then 1/3 of x=100                                                         1/3*x=100                                                          x=300So the number of boys is 300Now let the number of girls in school be y
                                          then 1/2 of y=200                                                    1/2*y=200                                                   y=400So the number of girls is 400Now total number of students= 400+300
                                                = 700

Answer:

7000 students

Step-by-step explanation:

total students participating=300

no of boys are 100

∴no of girls are =300-100

                         ⇒200

let total no of boys be x,then

1/3x=100

x=100÷1/3

x=100×3/1

x=100×3

x=300

let no of girls be y,then

1/2x=200

y=200÷1/2

y=200×2/1

y=200×2

y=400

∴total students are equal to x(total boys)+y(total girls),

x+y

⇒x=300;y=400

⇒x+y=300+400

⇒x+y=700
