Let the total no. of cows be a

According to question
No. of cows grazing = x/3
No. of cows near river = (x/2) - 20
No. of cows left = 35

Total cows - (No. Of cows grazing + No. Of cows near the river) =No. of cows left
=> x - (x/3+x/2 - 20) = 35
=> x - (2x+3x - 120)/6 = 35
=> (6x - 5x +120) = 35*6
=> x + 120 = 210
=> x = 90

Total no. of cows = 90
