Given :   One-thirds of the people in a room are seated in three-fourths of the  chairs. The rest of the people are standing.  there are 6 empty chairs,

To Find : how many people have occupied the chair

Solution:

let say People = 3P

Chairs = 4C

One-thirds of the people in a room = (1/3)3P =   P

Three fourth of the chairs = (3/4)4C  = 3C

=> P = 3C

Empty Chairs = 4C - 3C  = C

Empty Chairs = 6

=> C = 6

P = 3C

=> P = 3(6) = 18

18 People Have occupied the chair
