“One thousand rupees and villagers” – explain critically in reference to chapter mrs. packletide
Answers
Mrs. Packletide was very jealous of Loona Bimberton as she was famous for hunting the tiger. Mrs. Packletide wanted to show Loona down and hence started to plan for the purpose. She took the help of Miss Mebbin and called out the villagers to help her in shooting a tiger and in return she would give them a good reward. The whole village started to work for her and an old tiger was targeted for the action. For this, a goat was tied so as to build a net for the tiger. Mrs. Packletide shot the gun and the tiger died. She was very happy and the day next to the shoot, the newspaper got flooded with the pictures of Mrs. Packletide with the skin of the tiger. It was only Miss Mebin who knew the truth that the tiger died of the heart failure by the sound of the gun and not by the gun shoot. It was the goat who died of the gunshot. She started to blackmail Mrs. Pakletide and in return asked her to buy a weekend cottage in the village. Mrs. Packletide was forced to give six hundred and eighty pounds in order to buy the cottage for Miss Mebbin. She spent all her money only to rescue herself from being disgraced before the people.
