Given :- one vessel contains 20 litres of milk and another vessel contains 20 litres of water. One litre is taken out from each and poured into the other. This is done 2 times. Find the strength of the two mixtures ?
Solution :-
we know that,
- Final concentration = initial concentration * [ 1 - (x/V) ]^n .
- x = quantity taken out and poured .
- V = Total capacity .
- n = Total number of operations.
from given data we have,
- Initial concentration = 20 litre in both .
- x = 1 litre.
- V = 20 litre .
- n = 2 times.
Putting values we get,
→ Final concentration = 20 * [ 1 - (1/20) ]²
→ Final concentration = 20 * (19/20)²
→ Final concentration = 20 * (361/400)
→ Final concentration = (361/20)
→ Final concentration = 18.05 litre.
Therefore,
in vessel of milk :-
- Total milk left = 18.05 litre.
- Total water = 20 - 18.05 = 1.95 litre.
in vessel of water :-
- Total water left = 18.05 litre.
- Milk = 20 - 18.05 = 1.95 litre.
