Answer:

1. sour

2.sodium bicarbonate

3. When CO2 is passed through lime water, it turns milky due to the formation of calcium carbonate which is insoluble in water. However, when an excess of CO2 is passed through this solution, the milkiness disappears. This is due to the formation of calcium bicarbonate which is colourless and soluble in water.

4. Phenolphthalein is often used as an indicator in acid-base titrations. For this application, it turns colourless in acidic solutions and pink in basic solutions.

5. During electrolysis of brine solution, hydrogen gas (H2) is discharged at the cathode and chlorine gas (Cl2) is discharged at the anode. The solution left behind contains sodium hydroxide (NaOH).

7. When plaster of Paris is heated above 393 K its water of crystallization is lost and the leftover anhydrous calcium sulphate CaSO is called the dead burnt plaster.
