Maximum height attained by the ball = $u^{2} /2g$
At half of max height,
Assuming upward direction to be positive,
s = $u^{2} / 4g$
a = -10 m/$s^{2}$
v = 10 m/s
$v^{2} - u^{2} = 2as$
100 - $u^{2}$ = 2 (-g)($u^{2} /4g)$
$u^{2}$ = 200
Maximum height = 10 m 
I guess it's not only a genius who can solve it !
