Given : (x + 1/x) = 6.

(i)

On squaring both sides, we get

⇒ (x + 1/x)^2 = (6)^2

⇒ x^2 + 1/x^2 + 2 * x * 1/x = 36

⇒ x^2 + 1/x^2 + 2 = 36

⇒ x^2 + 1/x^2 = 36 - 2

x^2 + 1/x^2 = 34.

(ii)

On squaring both sides, we get

⇒ (x^2 + 1/x^2)^2 = (34)^2

⇒ x^4 + 1/x^4 + 2 * (x^2) * (1/x^2) = 1156

⇒ x^4 + 1/x^4 + 2 = 1156

⇒ x^4 + 1/x^4 = 1156 - 2

x^4 + 1/x^4 = 1154.

Hope it helps!
