Only gases burn with a flame . But when you burn wooood ,it intially burns with a flame .Later it only glows without a flame . What do you think os the reason for this class8

A flame is produced by substances which vapourise during burning. Initially, the wood burns with flame due to the gases in the wood. Once the gases get vaporised, only carbon remains behind in the form of coal. The coal does not burn with a flame.
