Only one side of the moon is visible to the earth because the moon rotate in its axis at the same rate that the moon orbits the earth. The moon is directly illuminated by the sun, and the cyclically varying viewing condition cause the lunar phases.

Hope it is helpful.

Explanation:

because the rotation and revolution are always equal there for one side of moon visible from the Earth the opposite side of the Earth is always hidden from our views
