Answer:

Let us consider , the total distance covered to be 'x'

Now,

The average speed during Abdul's starting journey= 20 km/ hr

Total distance= x km

Therefore, Total time = (Total Distance) ÷ Average speed

= x km ÷ 20 km/hr

= x/20 hr

Again,

The average speed during Abdul's return journey=30 km/hr

Total distance= x km

Therefore, Total time required in Abdul's return journey = (Total Distance) ÷ Average speed

= x km ÷ 30 km/hr

= x/30 hr

Now,

Total distance = x km

Total Time = ( x/20 + x/30 ) hr

= x/12 hr

Therefore, Average speed for the entire journey

=Total distance ÷ Total time

=x ÷ x/12 km/hr

= 12 km/hr
