Think of the base of your fingers as starting at north and wrap around the conductor to the south at the tips of your fingers. In other words the magnetic field is always at 90 degrees to the current flow, and with the right hand rule tells you which direction the magnetic field lines flow.

Geazy: i mean how do we know where the needle deflects
archit12332100: It will deflect with respect to the flow of Electric Current

Firstly we will find that in which direction the needle of compass is deflecting. By this, we can find the direction of electric current.

And then we can find the direction of magnetic field by applying the ’ Right Hand Palm Rule No. 1' or ' Maxwell's Right Handed Screw Law.'

Hope it was helpful.
