Let c = cat’s weight, d= dog’s weight, and

r = rabbit’s weight.

(A) c + r =10

(B) d + r = 20

(C) c + d = 24

Adding (A) with (B) gives

( c + r )+ (d + r) = 10 + 20

2r + c + d = 30.

Substituting (C) into this result gives

2r + 24 = 30. Solving for r gives

2r = 6

r = 3.

(B) d+r = 20

d + 3 = 20

d = 17

(A) c + r = 10

c + 3 = 10

c = 7

The cat, the rabbit, and the dog weigh 7kg, 3kg, and 17kg, respectively.
