The structures which have D configuration are in the attachment

Ans. (a) I, II, III

I, II and III structures have D configuration with -OH group on the lowest asymmetric carbon is on the right side which is comparable to (+) glyceraldehyde.

  • The D-L system shows spatial arrangement of its atoms around the chirality cente. It is also known as Fischer–Rosanoff convention.
  • For optical activity of the substance we use (+) or (-) sign. (+) for clockwise and (-) for anticlockwise.
