Answer:
- A carbon which is attached to the four different group or atoms are called asymmetric carbon. And the place which have asymmetric carbon is called asymmetric carbon.
- Optical isomerism is arises at the asymmetric centre of the compound and forms two mirror images they are non-super impossible each other called optical isomers.
- If an optical isomer rotates clock wise called L- form, if an optical isomer rotates anti-clock wise called d-form.
- Racemic mixture has equal volume of L and d forms. They didn’t show ‘optical activity’.
- Optically active “2-iodobutane” on treatment with NaI in “acetone gives a racemic mixture”.
