Answer: Option D

Explanation:

Let their ages be x and (x + 20) years.

5 (x - 5) = (x + 20 - 5) or 4x = 40 or x = 10.

Their present ages are 30 years and 10 years

\huge{\boxed{\rm{\red{Option = D}}}}

Present age of elder one =30 years

Present age of younger one=10 years

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:-

The ages of two persons differ by 20 years.

5 years ago The age of elder one is 5times the age of younger one.

To find:-

Find their present ages.

Solution:-

Given that

The ages of two persons differ by 20 years.

Let the present age of elder one be X years

then, The present age of younger one

=(X-20) years

5years ago,

Age of elder one =(X-5) years

Age of younger one =(X-20)-5 =(X-25) years

According to the given problem,

5 years ago the age of elder one is 5times the younger one

=>X-5=5(X-25)

=>X-5=5X-125

=>X-5X=-125+5

=>-4X=-120

=>4X=120

=>X=120/4

=>X=30

Answer:-

Present age of elder one=30 years

Present age of younger one

=30-20=10 years
