Find the time taken to complete the same amount of work with the reduced number of men.

Explanation:

  • Let the number of men be denoted by 'm', the time taken to complete the work be denoted by 't' and the amount of work be denoted by 'W'
  • Then the amount of work is given by, W=mxt
  • As the number of men increases or decreases the amount of work does not change.
  • Hence, as the number of men change we get,
  • W=4(6)=3(t)\\->t=\frac{24}{3} \\->t=8\ hrs
  • Now the job will 8 hours to complete.
