Though humans live in dwellings, all residences are not the same. In fact the dwellings differ from region to region and also according to the weather, traditions and space available. Traditionally houseboats are found in Kashmir. Though the Eskimos also live in the cold regions they build igloos that are well insulated against cold temperatures. The African tribes on the other hand who are exposed to high temperatures and jungle animals, build  houses on trees. The tents of nomads do not offer much security against animals but these people are generally on the move and require temporary shelters which are portable enough to be carried along. Contrastingly, skyscrapers are permanent structures found usually in big metropolitan cities. These are usually modern buildings equipped with numerous facilities.
