Dear Cousin,

I hope that you are fine and staying safe at home. Last month i visited Shimla and thought to share my experience regarding booking tickets with you. I planned a one week tour of Shimla with my university friends, one had already visited that place before so he planned all the trip. Then came booking of train tickets and hotels. This went pretty smooth because of online purchase of train tickets. However when we arrived at railway station, there was huge crowd in the station, seemed as if many people were travelling to Shimla.

I will share details about my trip when we meet

Dear Anubhav

Hope you are all doing well. I am writing to you to give you the details of last month's Shimla trip. The information will help you plan your trip well.

We visited Shimla last month, because the peak summer or peak winter months are the best time to visit. I would strongly advise you to avoid the monsoon months, because of frequent landslides in the mountains. Also, even during summers, it is recommended to carry some woollens along, because evenings and nights can get quite chilly.

Booking tickets is not a difficult task, but since it is a tourist destination, availability is an issue. Also, the heritage toy train that runs from Kalka to Shimla has just about 4-5 bogeys. So, it is hard to get seats at the last minute. The same goes for the hotels.

The train starts from Kalka quite early in the morning, but the porters are available if you need any help with your luggage. It is a quiet sort of a station, with very few people around. In fact you would only get water and tea at that early hour. All other kiosks were yet to open; so it is a good idea to carry some eatables with you. Other than that, everything is easily available at Shimla.

If you need any more information about anything, do let me know. I hope you have a great trip too!

Your loving cousin

Prabha
