Answer:

The small structures which present inside our lungs are Alveoli..which helps or ensure the sufficient and fast availability of oxygen to all the body cells.

Explanation:

Alveoli are tiny air sacs in our lungs that take up the oxygen we breathe in and keep your body going. Although they’re microscopic, alveoli are the workhorses of your respiratory system.

we have about 480 million alveoli, located at the end of bronchial tubes. When we breathe in, the alveoli expand to take in oxygen. When we breathe out, the alveoli shrink to expel carbon dioxide.

  • There are three overall processes involved in our breathing:

  1. moving air in and out of your lungs (ventilation)
  2. oxygen-carbon dioxide exchange (diffusion)
  3. pumping blood through your lungs (perfusion)

Although tiny, the alveoli are the center of our respiratory system’s gas exchange. The alveoli pick up the incoming energy (oxygen) we breathe in and release the outgoing waste product (carbon dioxide) we exhale.

As it moves through blood vessels (capillaries) in the alveoli walls, our blood takes the oxygen from the alveoli and gives off carbon dioxide to the alveoli.
