if a number represent , N = a × 10ⁿ , where 1/√10 ≤ a < √10 then n is known as order of magnitude.

let's find it.

1. 0.99

= 0.99 × 10⁰

here 1/√10 < 0.99 < √10

so, 0 is the order of magnitude of 0.99

2. 8

= 0.8 × 10¹

here, 1/√10 < 0.8 < √10

so, 1 is the order of magnitude of 8

3. 0.864 × 10^5

here, 1/√10 < 0.864 < √10

so, 5 is the order of magnitude of 0.864 × 10^5

4. 1496 × 10^8

= 1.496 × 10¹¹
