Answer:

1)in Mg electronic configuration is 1s2 2s2 2p6 3s2

for first ionisation enthalpy elctron is removed from completely filled s orbital hence more energy is required

but in Al elctronic configuration is 1s2 2s2 2p6 3s2 3p1

in Al for first ionisation enthalpy electron is removed from incompletely filled p orbital hence less energy is required

2) similar as above

S has 1s2 2s2 2p6 3s2 3p3

and P has 1s2 2s2 2p6 3s2 3p4

s has half filled orbital hence required more energy to removed fiist elctron
