Different forms of electromagnetic waves are arranged according to increasing wavelength in the electromagnetic spectrum.

  • Gamma rays have the shortest wavelength lesser than 10-¹²m. They lie in the extreme left of the spectrum.
  • Visible light comes next with wavelength within 400 - 750nm. It lies n early at the centre of the spectrum.
  • Microwaves are next with a wavelength range of 25um - 1mm.
  • Radio waves have the largest wavelength of over 1mm. They lie in the extreme right of the spectrum.
