For this best example is Giraffe
Giraffe used to have short necks and legs , in order to survive they have adapted their necks and legs too long in order to have food during non seasonal times also, where the food will be available at the top most of trees only.
hope this helps

Acc to Darwin, the survival fittest is reproductive fitness.
The organism which is able to survive in a area, and able to produce its progeny more will be the survival fittest.
When they transfer the DNA to their progeny, acc to Darwin fitness is also inheritable.
I.e the characters which are helpful to survive in that area are inherited through DNA so fitness is also called inheritable.
Bcoz of their DNA inherited they bcom the survival fittest.
Where as the non living things cannot inherit DNA
